Braxton served in the US Army from 2008-2013. During his time serving in IRAQ, he sustained several herniated disks in his back requiring him to have surgery in 2011..
His back has been good since leaving the military until this summer.. Braxton started feeling pain in his back once again in January of 2018.. His pain continued to get worse through the year. By July, He could hardly walk and was left no choice but to stay in bed..
Braxton and his wife Alyssa went to the Veterans affairs seeking help for his back pain.. In July, Braxton had 2 back surgeries removing scar tissue and part of a disk that was pressed up against his Sciatic nerve..
This was supposed to be an easy surgery and Braxton was expected to be back to normal life in 4-6 weeks.. Recover was going well for 1 week until Braxton sat down in a low chair and pulled a muscle in his back..
This is wear the nightmare truly begins.
Since pulling a muscle, he has severe inflammation and fluid build up, causing his spine to shift to the left and compress onto a nerve.. He has been in a HUGE amount of pain for months. He has gone into the ER 15 times since pulling the muscle and the doctors keep sending him home with more pain killers and telling him he just has to wait for the back to heal..
Since Braxton went to bed rest in July, He has since been laid off from his job.. He tried applying for unemployment but he hadn't worked there long enough to qualify.
Braxton applied for disability help from the VA in June but has not yet received any financial help because it takes 4-6 months for them to process his application..
For months now, Braxton has been extremely financially stressed and is slowly falling behind on his bills.. His wife Alyssa works full time as a CNA and has been trying to get as many extra shifts as possible to help carry the load, but they need more help..
I set the goal for $5000 but I hope we can raise even more for this amazing man, his wife and there 2 dogs.. The funds will be spent on his monthly expenses such as:Home Mortgage, Vehicle payments, credit card debt racked up from being injured all summer. He had an excellent paying job at Superior Supply in Bismarck and will have the opportunity to return to his position there after he heals.
Braxton made a huge sacrifice for our country! He served our military and laid his life on the line.. And now years later, his back injuries from serving in IRAQ are hurting his ability to keep the life he worked so hard for..
Please help us take care of this amazing American Veteran..
