Sherrys Road to Recovery!

Sherry’s journey started when she was 19 years old when she was diagnosed with Polysistic Kidney Disease. Heriditary from her Dad’s side of the family. At the age 39 years, she was diagnosed with Polycysyic Liver disease as well. The liver disease caused her liver to become grossly enlarged, taking over her abdomen. If you didn’t know her, you would think she was pregnant. After several surgeries, procedures, appointments and aquiring a Liver Transplant Team, in 2018, there was no other option for Sherry. She had to be placed on the Liver Transplant List. She had gotten two “dry” calls for transplants, but they fell through. These trips came at a cost, both emotionally and financially. Living in the North it’s not easy to get to Vancouver on a moments notice.

On March 2nd, Sherry got the call for the third time to make her way to Vancouver for her liver transplant! 3rd time was the charm!! March 5th, her dream came true and she got her liver transplant. She is out of surgery and doing amazing! She is on the road to recovery, but she will need to stay close to Vancouver for the next 3 months for follow up appointments on a weekly basis. Uncle Vic who has had his own health issues is just newly back to full time work has had to take a layoff to go to Vancouver to help Sherry as she recovers. I would like to try to lessen the burden financially so they both can focus on Sherrys recovery without the worry and stress.
