My son was temporarily in Seattle Washington, on September 27th 2021 he was a victim of a violent crime. There was a verbal altercation when he left a business. Shortly after leaving he was shot in the neck while driving. He knew immediately the injury could be fatal. He could not move his body and the vehicle jumped a curb and went into a ditch. A police officer seen the vehicle and investigated then discovered my son still alive. By shear miracle my son made it to Harborview Medical Center and underwent the first surgery to repair his esophagus . A few days later he underwent fusion of the C-5 to T2.
Sadly the injury was a C-5 complete severed spinal cord. This means he will never walk again. He is paralyzed from his chest down. He maintains movement in his shoulders, upper arms, forearm, and movement in his wrist. But at this time there is no fine motor skills in his fingers or ability to grip.
At this time my son is still in TSICU, then he be going to rehabilitation at the University of Washington Spinal Injury Center. We are so very lucky he was taken to a world class spinal center and he receives amazing care. However when he is ready to leaves this program special transportation will need to be arranged for him to return home. Then the cost of early care while we wait for Social Security to be approved. Other social serviced will not began until Social Security is approved. The burden of cost for his care, nursing and equipment will be up to me to navigate.
I'm in need of help to maintain the medical needs for my son.
Thank you you for reading our story and we hope you find us worthy of your donations. My son's quality of life depends on the help we generate from this Go Fund Me account.
Mother of an amazing fighter!
