Black Belt's Veterinary Care

Black Belt's Retirement

Black Belt is a 7 year old OTTB (Off Track Thoroughbred).  In his short career he has earned almost $400,000 as a racehorse.  Unfortunately, during the 2014 racing season, Black Belt suffered a sesamoid fracture and is no longer able to race.  With the assistance of CANTER New England and Suffolk Downs management, my plan for Black Belt has been to retire him to a farm in Virginia where he will be loved and taken care of for the rest of his life.  However, his future as a "horse" is in jeapordy because of his injury.

I have consulted with several veterinarians that have reviewed his x-rays and the best plan of action, at this time, is surgery.  If I am able to raise enough money for the surgery, he will also need some rehabilitation time before he can get on a trailer for the ride to Virginia.

Please consider making a donation for this very deserving boy.  In the time that he has been with me, he has been a joy to be around and he has completely stolen my heart.  I would love nothing more than to ensure that he can live a happy and comfortable life but, I cannot do it on my own.

Thank you!
