Hi everyone, I am reaching out for dire help for my dear friend who is like family, Joe.
Since about 18 years old, Joe’s life has been completely taken over by severe, drug-resistant epilepsy.
What started as manageable has turned into a daily nightmare. Joe suffers from debilitating seizure clusters—sometimes up to 10 intense, full-body seizures a day, from morning to night. Because of this, he is now homebound and unable to work.
After trying numerous medications with zero success, removal of part of his brain is his last chance to break this cycle and live again.
Please consider donating to help cover his medical expenses, and share this story. Any amount helps, and your support means the world to us.
The Urgent Goal: Life-Saving Surgery
The medications are no longer working. Specialists have determined that to save his life and give him a chance at a seizure-free future, Joe needs major, specialized brain surgery.
The Crucial Need: A Safe Home & Caregiver
Because of the severity of his seizures, Joe cannot live alone and requires 24/7 care. Taylor Marsh is stepping up as his primary caregiver, ensuring he is never alone during these dangerous episodes.
Why We Need Your Help Now (SUDEP Risk)
Uncontrolled, frequent, convulsive, or "generalized" epilepsy carries a high risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). For individuals with severe, uncontrolled seizures, the risk can be as high as 1 in 150, far higher than the average, which is already 1 in 1,000. The daily, full-body seizures Joe experiences place him at a very high risk, making this campaign a matter of life and death.
What Your Donation Will Do:
Safe Housing: Purchase a reliable, safe, and secure home/apartment for full-time, supervised living.
Medical Expenses: Cover costs for specialized brain surgery, testing, and travel to specialists.
Service Animal: Help obtain a trained service animal to detect seizures and provide safety during and after a seizure.
Any amount, big or small, helps Joe fighting for a chance at a normal life. If you cannot donate, please share this post to help us spread the word. Together, we can give Joe a fighting chance.
Thank you for your support, love, and prayers.
Specialized Medical Care: Joe is currently under the care of a neurologist at ECU Health in Greenville, NC, with, specialized testing scheduled at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.
Every contribution helps to provide the necessary care, safety, and a chance for a seizure-free life.
