My daughter Janet Castillo, enlisted in the U.S Navy September of 2018 and was deployed in of March of 2019 to Sasebo-Shi , Japan. Janet is 20 years old and she has two brothers and a sister, her being the eldest of all four. Janet enlisted in the Navy to serve her country and become a role model for her siblings, she is strong willed, very caring, and is dearly loved by her family and friends.
On December 14, 2019 Janet was involved in an accident while leaving a Christmas gathering where she is stationed in Sasebo-Shi, Japan. Janet was crossing the street, when she was struck by a motorcycle, and then run over by another vehicle. Janet has suffered numerous fractures, internal bleeding, both her legs are broken and the right leg has been severely damaged. Doctors have made us aware that there is a possibility that Janet may have to have her right leg amputated. Currently she is heavily sedated to keep her comfortable. Within this past weekend, Janet has undergone multiple emergency surgeries to stop the internal bleeding and stabilize her condition. The U.S. Navy has advised me as her mother, to travel to Japan to be by my daughters side. I am having to leave my job, and my family behind to be at Janet's bedside. Although the U.S. Navy will pay for my travel arrangements and my stay in Japan, they will only compensate for me, as I am her only emergency contact. We need help to raise funds to bring a second family member to travel with me and help me and my daughter get through this tragedy. We will be in Japan for a few months and also have obligations here at home that we need to take care of, to be sure Janet has a comfortable home to come and rehabilitate at when she is strong and ready. Any help is very much appreciated whether monetary, or just a simple prayer for her recovery. You never think that things like this will happen to you or your family, until it hits you like is has us. Please consider helping out a proud, young and loving U.S. Navy service member, you are all greatly appreciated.
