The cancer came without warning and without time to prepare for the battle ahead.
Amy suddenly found herself in the ER with breathing issues last week only to discover she had late stage lung cancer.
Amy doesn’t have a choice. She’s fighting this with everything she has in her, so Nick is on unpaid leave by her side. This beautiful family needs more time.
They were already barely above drowning in debt. Their income will come to a halt by month end. With the sudden addition of medical expenses, they’re already reaching over $200,000 in debt. They can’t do this alone. So I’m asking for them.
They have three beautiful children. A son, who’s not far into adulthood, attending college, holding down a job, and trying to do what dad would do because he feels his dad needs him to be there for his sisters while he sits with their mom. They have a daughter who’s a born leader and uses that power to look after the kids who can’t protect themselves as easily. She’s strong and you’re not going to mess with her, but she’s vulnerable. She’s trying so hard to be the glue holding all of it together and she’s scared too. And finally, they also have a delightful and expressive daughter in the autism spectrum. She’s free spirited, expressive, unapologetically unique, and without a care in the world. Seeing her mom fighting for her life has turned her protected world upside down.....so I’m asking for their children.
A goal of $250,000 is being set to help them pay the cost of fighting for Amy’s life while protecting their home, protecting their kids, and protecting that desperately needed routine required to take time to cry, to take care of themselves, and just to have that routine that holds them together.
Anything helps. If you have a dollar, it means the world. If you have a prayer to offer, it means the world. However close we get to reaching this goal, it means the world.
