Help Bring Mackenzie Everard Home

Donation protected
My name is Sarah DiGiovanni Bousquet and I am the proud aunt of Mackenzie Everard. My sister Amanda and brother-law, Josh have 3 beautiful daughters. Their youngest, Mackenzie is 2 years old. She is the best little sister to Olivia and Madison.

Mackenzie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at a few weeks old. It is a chronic life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system and affects the cells that produce mucus. It can then plug ducts, and passageways making fighting certain illnesses extremely difficult to overcome. For those of you that don’t know Mackenzie she is a bundle of joy. You would never know that she has CF or what she endures during treatments to stay healthy on a daily basis. She is energetic and loves life with the brightest smile and cutest giggle. She truly is a superhero and CF warrior who continually does her treatments to stay healthy. She was heathy and thriving until Wednesday March 23, 2022 when she seemed to begin to have trouble battling a virus.

Mackenzie was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield MA last Wednesday with trouble breathing. She was given steroids and a breathing treatment and sent home from the ER. The following morning Mackenzie was rushed via ambulance to the hospital with low oxygen, trouble breathing and major chest retractions. She was admitted to the Pediatric ICU to receive medical interventions to help open airways and keep oxygen levels up while fighting to get past a virus. But on Friday Mackenzie suddenly stopped breathing, coded and required emergency resesutation in the ICU. CPR was performed and she was able to be revived and stabilized throughout the night. On Saturday her CF team and the ICU from Boston Childrens Hospital sent a critical care unit from Boston to Baystate Medical in Springfield to pick up Mackenzie via ambulance and bring her to Boston’s ICU to continue care. Since then she has been admitted to Boston Childrens Hospital ICU where they are carefully monitoring and providing critical care treatment to her. They are expecting Mackenzie to fight this virus and will aid her with critical interventional and supportive treatments to help her breathe.

We are very fortunate that Mackenzie was transferred and is in the best place to help her however, mom, dad and family have added expenses to endure. I’m asking for help for those medical expenses as well as traveling/caring for Mackenzie while she is in the ICU in Boston. All donations will go to the family to cover those expenses to help to ease some of the financial burden from all of this. Help bring Mackenzie home! Any amount can help. We thank you for your support and will post updates as well. #helpbringmackenziehome #bostonstrong #cfwarrior #cfsuperhero
