Support Dar Daif

As you may have seen in the news, the Moroccan state imposed lockdown not long after we left. All non-essential businesses, including the Agence Désert & Montagne and the guest house Dar Daïf, have had to close down. As you can imagine, this is imposing hardship on our friends Saïd and Zineb. Saïd considers this a test by God; he’s been very busy doing his utmost to avoid laying off any of their 62 employees.
 

Saïd, Zineb and their staff have always excelled to give us their best service and they have always done so with dedication and friendliness. Our hearts are  deeply touched by the hardship they have to go through now and we would like to offer them some support. Together with some friends from Conscience Soufie we had the idea of organising an appeal for donations to a fund to offer them financial asistance When we talked about this possibility with Said he was extremely grateful and suggested that any possible donation could help with the payment of the schooling of their five adopted children.

 
Seven years ago, a 35 year-old employee of Désert & Montagne had a heart attack and died at home in front of his seven children. The distress of the mother was immense; she sank in depression and died two years later. Being very poor their family could only take two of the children. Saïd and Zineb, who already had three children of their own, adopted the other five girls. This strained their family life and their family finances. As Saïd confided once: “When you see someone drowning in the river, you stretch out your hand and try to get the person out, knowing that this person may pull you in the water”! Nevertheless, Saïd and Zineb, their determination rooted in their faith, never doubted that they had just done the right thing!
 

Therefore we are writing you to ask whether you can make a donation towards the schooling of these five girls. Any amount would be very welcome and deeply appreciated.
