Hello, my name is Nicole Rodgerson. This is not easy for me to reach out for help. My dad Richard Rodgerson was diagnosed with Dementia in 2020 and our family had stepped in to care for his needs. As he progressed deeper into his illness caring 24/7 with very little assistance became difficult. Due to the family needing respite care we decided to move him into Memory Care in Merida, Mexico where my sister Emma resides and she took over as we waited for available placement at the VA nursing home. During his stay he developed a Urinary Tract Infection that was missed by staff. The infection incapacitated him in which he lost his ability to speak, move, and walk. We are now on a mission to bring him back home as he requires a higher level of care. He does not have medical insurance in Mexico and as of now the doctors cannot tell us how long it will take to rehabilitate him. He needs to be evacuated via helicopter which has the medical equipment on board to keep him comfortable. The flight alone is $45,000. We are turning to the public, to his friends, and to those who have met him to help us reach this goal.
