2019 Update -
As many of you know, we have received the news that Poppa Dave's melanoma has returned with a vengeance. It has "widely metastasized" and has been found in his liver, bones, adrenal glands, and brain. He has a very rare condition called leptomeningeal metastatic disease, where the cancer is found in the membranes surrounding the brain. While this has been very difficult for us to wrap our minds around, Poppa Dave is a fighter, and we aren't giving up hope! We will do whatever we can to fight this and make him feel as loved and supported as possible. He has began aggressive treatment to fight this, and we were blessed with the opportunity to speak with with one of the top neuro-oncologists in the world who is reviewing my dad's case. We appreciate your prayers and support now more than ever, and without even asking or being on this page in years, you started making donations to help my family, which amazes us. THANK YOU!
2016 - This has been a wonderful past year for Poppa Dave, he saw his eldest daughter get married and welcomed into the family his first grandson, Jeffery. However, along with all the joy and excitement he has been dealt some very difficult news. Dave went to a dermatologist this past year for a lesion on his back, they removed the lesion and sent it for a biopsy. The results came back showing he has Melanoma. Recently he went for a sentinel biopsy, had lymph nodes removed, and had a larger amount of tissue and muscle removed from his back. The family recieved the very unfortunate news that the cancer had spread into his lymph nodes and he was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma and now has to have his remaining lymph nodes removed and begin interferon treatment.
We're hoping to raise enough money to help him and his family through this tight time in their lives. Dave unfortunately has missed out on work while recovering from surgery, and will be out of work again following his upcoming surgery and treatments. This means that bills are piling up, and no income is coming in. With the high monthly amount they are already paying out-of-pocket for health coverage, they will need help to pay his medical and monthly bills.
Father of three girls, grandfather to one little bundle of joy, he's a hard-working man, devoted to his family and church. Always loving, never faulting in his ways he's a man of little words and many smiles. Dave is the first one to lend a helping hand and be there for others, now it's our time to be there for him.
We want all that are willing to donate to know, that every cent that's given will go towards his healing process and journey of recovery.
We thank you for your generosity and help in keeping this great guy around as long as possible!
