Support Justin's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
It’s hard to fathom that on just any regular old Monday, you’re going about your life and day as usual, blissfully unaware you are about to receive news that your brother in law was in a serious accident. Life can be tragic, slip away, or be dramatically changed forever in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately for our family we received one of those tragic, life altering phone calls about Justin.
On Monday June 3rd, Justin went on a motorcycle ride with his brother, and a friend, something he regularly enjoys doing. Unfortunately, there was some uneven concrete, from recent repaving that was hit while he was taking a turn, his bike slid, and Justin was thrown from his bike. His brother was not far behind him and found Justin lying in the road and his motorcycle in the ditch.
Thankfully, a passerby saw the accident and called 911. His brother’s girlfriend was riding with them and was able to start CPR and continued it with the assistance of the dispatchers over the phone. EMS arrived and were able to revive Justin at the scene of the accident. Justin was brought by ambulance to the hospital where medical staff started assessing his injuries. Although he was wearing a helmet, he has suffered extensive head trauma. He required emergency surgery that night due to bleeding in his brain. In addition to the bleeding in his brain, he has suffered several fractures, many of which are in his face.
At this point, Justin’s recovery process is still largely unknown. He is currently in the hospital sedated to allow his brain to heal and rest. The extent of his injuries continue to be monitored and his doctors and specialists are working hard to meet Justin’s needs. Due to the trauma and bleeding in his brain, we do not know yet how much function Justin will recover. We do not yet know what life will look like for Justin when he goes home, whenever that may be. While we celebrate any little win we can get, a move of the arm, or opening of an eye, we know that Justin and his family have an incredibly long road ahead of them.
Anyone of you on the other side of this screen could be writing this support page to help Justin because in one way or another, Justin has probably helped you. He is the guy who is always up to go on a bike ride, the guy who will invite you and your whole family over to swim at the pool. Need your lawn mowed? Need a place to crash? Need your father in law picked up and taken to a wedding? Need help fixing something? He will always help you out no questions asked. He is almost always smiling, enjoys telling stories, sharing a meme, playing video games, or just sitting outside enjoying the summer air. Justin is the guy that is there, he is willing to help you, and now it’s time for us all to return the favor and help him.
If you don’t know Justin, he has never met anyone that he wouldn’t give the shirt off of his back to. He is a loving father, devoted husband, hard worker, son, brother, uncle, and friend. If you think of the best person you know in your life, the one who is always there, the one you can always count on, that is Justin to his family and friends.
Many friends, family members, and co-workers have reached out wanting to help so we created an easy way to do just that. Justin is as stubborn as he is strong and he is a fighter. We want him to give everything he has to his recovery. Any help you are able to share would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to help monetarily, please consider sharing this post with friends and family on social media.
This fundraiser is to raise money for Justin, his wife Erin and his daughter Rory. These donations will help cover medical bills or other medical costs that may arise due to the injuries Justin sustained. Donations may also be used to help cover other bills while Justin is off of work and recovering.
