Hi! I am a high school senior and am also taking 21 credits a quarter at the community college. I graduate high school on June 13 and a week later graduate community college with my Associates in Science. I just attended the Future Medical Leaders Convention in Washington D.C. and I have been chosen as one of a select few to have the opportunity to travel to India this summer for the Ultimate Med Internship Program ran by Youth Futures International. Only 50 students were selected for this opportunity from the 8,000 that attended the Future Medical Leaders of America Conference this year in Washington, D.C. I have the opportunity to learn about many fields of medicine while shadowing physicians and helping real patients. In the future, I plan to become an Anesthesiologist in the Navy so I may release the pain and suffering of those in need. Watching my dad's battle with cancer and his struggle with pain until his death propelled my desire to help ease pain in others. This experience in India will help me prepare for my future in the medical profession by giving me a worldly perspective to illness and health. Your donation will assist me in my journey to become a doctor that will understand the needs and feelings of her patients. I am not begging for money, but instead am hoping for a pay it forward opportunity. In the future, I plan on not only assisting patients in pain and serving my country, but also in providing financial aid to future students who desire to be physicians so they may have the same opportunities as I have been fortunate to receive. Your donation helps to cover the tuition, airfare, and other expeneses. Thank You. - Laken
