CSF Leak Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My dad wanted to title this as “Living Life With a Hole in My Head.” While that’s not quite accurate, my dad has been suffering from horrible, debilitating headaches since 2015. After many doctor appointments and tests along with an incredible amount of research by my mom, he was finally diagnosed with Cerebral Spinal Fluid leak (CSF). CSF is a condition that occurs when there is a tear or hole in the membranes surrounding the brain or spinal cord, allowing the clear fluid that surrounds and cushions those organs to escape.
Over the past year, my parents have pursued treatment in Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis, Cleveland, OH, and most recently California, as there are only a handful of experts in the U.S. who know how to treat this very serious condition. Earlier this month Dad had fibrin glue treatment in California that has seemed to help quite a bit. Though this is a positive step, there is more treatment and possibly surgery still ahead.
As you can imagine, the medical expenses have become just overwhelming. Dad has been unemployed since last fall, and he had already been through two bouts of prostate cancer and an emergency appendectomy where he spent a lot of time in the hospital before the headaches began. My mom has worked incredibly hard, both in caring for Dad and trying to stay afloat in this sea of stress, medical bills, and expenses, as well as working full time.
My parents constantly help others, but have difficulty accepting help themselves. They have finally agreed to let me provide a way for those of you to help who WANT to but haven’t known how. Any amount you’re able to donate will make a great difference in their lives and will be more appreciated than we can say.
