My name is Madison Alvarez, and I am Riley Hancock's best friend, more like a sister, really. I'm organizing this fundraiser to support Riley as she recovers from the devastating accident in Ybor City, Tampa, that made national news on the morning of November 8th. I'm doing this on behalf of Riley's parents, Kim and Joe Maus, and James and Jen Hancock.
Riley was among the victims when a driver fleeing police crashed into a local bar, resulting in multiple fatalities and severe injuries.
Riley was in in critical condition but has since been moved down to the trauma unit, fighting to recover from a horrific array of injuries. These include extensive facial lacerations, ten broken vertebrae, a broken scapula, a broken ankle, a collapsed lung, multiple broken ribs, and extensive bruising and burns throughout her entire body. The road ahead will be a long and arduous one, filled with uncertainty and challenges. I'm managing this fundraiser so that Riley's parents can dedicate all their energy to being at her side during this incredibly difficult time.
All funds raised will go directly to Riley to help alleviate the financial burden of extensive medical expenses, ongoing bills, lost income due to time away from work, and the considerable long-term costs associated with her rehabilitation and recovery.
Her family is profoundly grateful for every prayer, message of support, and act of kindness during this unimaginable time. Your generosity means the world to us as we rally around Riley and support her on her journey to healing.
