Hiram Johnson is on the brink of a comeback, but we are still struggling to fully support some of our extra-curricular activities. Two of the most visible areas of need are our football and cheer programs, neither of which has received uniforms from the school in several years. There is simply no budget room.
A group of concerned alumni, parents, community members, and HJ staff have begun the work necessary to rebuild the boosters program, but it will be weeks, if not months, before that is underway and able to begin its mission. In the meantime the school year is beginning and we have players on the field in uniforms that are just one play away from being torn into rags and cheerleaders who have rasied some money for uniforms but at this point only have 20% of what they need to outfit the squad.
Any help is appreciated...these kids are prideful and don't want to hear the comments about how they look as they take the field or assemble on the sidelines, but the comments happen nonetheless. Help me help them look the part and let them focus on what they are doing to support the school and build pride in their community.
