Help Rebecca Fight Her Cancer

This year it seemed safe to say the cancer was in remission. It was a shock to hear it had returned in a different form. The cancer had infected the abdominal wall. A rare type of cancer called carcinoma that most doctors in America wont even treat. Rebecca was unaware dire the situation was until her oncologist dropped her as a patient. Then the helpful doctor stopped coming around to her hospital room. Cut off from medical care except palliative she went home scared and feeling very much alone. With Troy's help and support they started looking for a second opinion.

At this time Rebecca was underweight in the low seventies having not received any secondary nutrition by I.V. while on fluids for the bowel obstruction that had brought her to the hospital. Finally help was found that was interested in treating Rebecca. Only to find that they weren't going to treat to cure the disease, only to try to shrink the cancer. In shock she went home and prepared for standard chemo.

Currently Rebecca is 47 years old and still active. She gains a pound a day with exercise, intravenous nutrition and weight gain formula. It's a slow and painful climb back to where she was before the hospital stays. She still needs a walker for long distances with the goal being a mile a day. Rebecca has started walking some unsupported and is working on climbing stairs next. Every day she gains strength and is showing improvement. Fighting every step of the way she is remarkably well so far but time is of the essence.

Before the cancer she an avid animal lover involved in animal rights with a focus on helping the wild cat community. With an art background and a love of nature she channeled her creativity into bringing awareness to Native American culture with her partner Troy. In the future she wants to bring awareness to this type of cancer. Too many people are dying because they were never made aware they had an option to survive by facilities that are conservative or unaware of the progress made in a cure.

Frantic internet searches discovered her cancer didn't have to be incurable. A surgery exists followed by chemo that has saved many lives and is the standard of care in Europe. It is not widely used in America yet only available at fifteen places per statistics. This is a two part procedure the surgery to remove the cancer and then a one time chemo that can be delivered by incision or laparoscopically (which is the safer of the two but even harder to find then open chemo.)

It's an expensive treatment and insurance will not cover. The whole procedure needs to be done by an experienced center or the cure is as dangerous as the disease. Most are at hospitals associated with universities. Because this is not a standard of care in this country not all surgeons or hospitals are the same. In the right hands of a surgeon it's a life saving gift.

Please help to save Rebecca's life. Anything that you can send will help. All donations will go towards the surgery and chemo. You are the miracle that is needed now. Thank you for reading this and know that any assistance gained is a gift that will always be remembered with warm thoughts and gratitude that can never be adequately expressed. Feel free to share this message.
