I juni 2025 förändrades vår familjs liv för alltid. Min älskade storebror, familjens glädjespridare, intelligent och den mest omtänksamma personen jag känner drabbades av en allvarlig stroke. Han är bara 37 år gammal och pappa till en 16-årig dotter. Dom bor i Filippinerna, långt från oss andra i familjen som bor här i Sverige och vi behöver allt stöd vi kan få för att hjälpa honom så gott vi kan från andra sidan världen.

Stroken har lämnat honom förlamad i halva kroppen, med stor minnesförlust och han kämpar idag med att återlära sig grundläggande saker som att prata, gå och ta hand om sig själv. Han kan inte arbeta och är helt beroende av hjälp – både fysiskt och ekonomiskt.

Sjukhusvistelsen kostade över 400,000kr. Den inkluderade en omfattande operation, flera veckor på intensivvårdsavdelningen med vård dygnet runt och livsavgörande mediciner. En summa vi i familjen har lyckats täcka genom att låna och gå ihop så gott vi kunnat, men nu har vi slut på pengar och står inför nästa stora utmaning: hans långa väg till återhämtning.

Enligt läkarna återstår minst 6 månader av intensiv rehabilitering och eftervård, med kostnader för medicin, fysioterapi och personlig assistans. Det är osäkert om eller när han kommer kunna gå igen, men det är viktigt att påbörja rehabiliteringen så snart som möjligt för snabbare och smidigare återhämtning.

In June 2025, our family's life changed forever.

My beloved older brother – the joy of our family, an intelligent and the most caring person I know – suffered a severe stroke. He is only 37 years old and the father of a 16-year-old daughter. They live in the Philippines, far away from the rest of our family here in Sweden, and we need all the support we can get to help him from the other side of the world.

The stroke left him paralyzed on one side of his body and with significant memory loss. Today, he is fighting to relearn basic things like speaking, walking, and taking care of himself. He is unable to work and is entirely dependent on physical and financial support.

His hospital stay cost over 400,000 SEK (approx. $38,000). This included a major surgery, several weeks in the ICU with 24/7 care, and life-saving medications. We as a family managed to cover the bill by borrowing and pooling everything we had, but now we are out of money and face the next big challenge: his long road to recovery.

According to his doctors, he will need at least six more months of intensive rehabilitation and aftercare, including costs for medications, physiotherapy, and personal assistance. It is still uncertain if or when he will be able to walk again, but starting rehab as soon as possible is crucial for a better chance at recovery.
