Homeless July 6 - Moving Expenses

Help [desperately] needed, please. 
(I originally drafted this request on June 28 but didn't post it because I thought I had one last hope of salvation, which did not occur.  It is now July 2, and I am almost out of time.)

I have hesitated to ask for assistance until now because I was hoping a miracle would occur before I got down to the wire; and also because I’m so ashamed to ask for help, especially after all the devastating losses that so many people in our community endured.

I have lived in Ojai for twenty years, and have been providing senior care, pet and house sitting, and transportation services for the last ten years.  Although I lead a quiet life here, I am fairly well known in the community, having earned a reputation as being trustworthy,  generous and kind in my business and personal life.

As a “senior” citizen living frugally on a small fixed income, it is not easy to get by, but I’m fortunate to still have plenty of enthusiasm, compassion and constitutional energy to continue working and providing services for others, which I find very rewarding.   

However, due to a number of unforeseen circumstances over the last year, and then the loss of income for several months after the December fire, I have hit a really rough patch in my life.

I am losing my housing effective July 6, and I have not been able to find anything I can afford in Ojai or Ventura.  I am out of time and am asking for assistance to hire movers and a truck to get my household goods into storage.

I have come to accept that I may have to leave my beloved Ojai at some point due to lack of affordable housing but, in the meantime, I will need to stay close to my storage unit so I can work on downsizing by selling and giving away my belongings. 

Since I will be paying for storage, I won’t be able to pay much rent for interim housing, so anything you are able to give will keep me and my kitty from having to live in my car.

If you know of anyone with an RV that I can stay in – or a minimalist sleeping room – or house/pet sitting - or anything - for the next two to three months, please keep me in mind.

I will have money coming in by September from the sale of my mobile home, and I will repay everyone who is able to help me.  Those who know me, know my word is good.  I can give you a Promissory Note and/or a check that you can cash as soon as funds have been deposited in my bank account.

To my clients, I promise I will be there - happy to see you, my normal cheery self - for all scheduled reservations, and I will be grateful for new bookings.  But just in case, I have a wonderful, trusted backup driver who will take over for me.

To those who can help, may you be abundantly blessed for your kindness.   Please know that when I get back on my feet, I will "pay it forward" to others in need.
