As many friends and family know, we have just announced that we are expecting. A sudden unexpected event happened on Wednesday, Sept 29th, 2021, and my Husband and two dogs were involved in a Hit & Run incident just across the street from our house about 7:25 -7:35 AM next to an Elementary School in Hayward on Schafer Rd., 94544. The car was a dark grey w/ blue tint in the sun Toyota Prius (potential models from 2014-2017) with two passengers Male (driver) and Female.
One of my dogs (Hunter, 110lb german sherperd, malamute) was struck on the left side of his face leaving him to yelp until I ran out of the house to comfort him. My husband was then hit, landed on the hood of the car, broke the right side light or dented the right hood of the Prius. Then Jojo, who you see in the pictures, was hit and dragged and now has broken K-9s, scar marks all on her underbelly and scraps of meat missing from her legs, along with a shattered right hind leg joint, leaving it to just hang in pain.
She is resting now, but there is no way to recover unless we are able to afford a total hip replacement. She is only 4.5 years and we hope for her to live another 10. She needs to be physically moved to allow her to pee and defecate. We watch her at night to ensure she does not suddenly stop breathing. The cost of the medical bills and travel will be high, as quoted, and does not cover follow-up care or physical therapy.
We are not asking for the full amount. Anything will help a little here or there to offset our financial need will be very appreciated.
We also ask if you or if you know anyone in the area who may have had a camera in the area to find these two individuals. In the map image below the car was traveling East bound pass the school towards Huntwood. The red circle is where my Husband and my dogs were hit.
It worries me because there are young children who walk these streets everyday and luckily my husband is a large muscular man. If it were a child/children, they may not have survived the impact. It's not only important for us but for the children in our neighborhood.
