Hit by a car- WALKING~

While attending the Realtor’s Triple Play Conference in Atlantic City with her sister this week, Martha Marino, a REMAX agent from Hornell was struck by a van while waiting at a cross walk.  The driver of the van, was charged- driving under the influence of drugs, jumped the curb, striking Martha and throwing her in the air before hitting a concrete wall. 


Upon arrival to the trauma center, she had three brain bleeds,  two brain contusions, a contusion on her liver, a fractured C5 and compound fractures to her elbow, femur and patella. She also had multiple facial fractures as well as a large gash over her left eye.


She is currently heavily sedated and on a respirator.  The neurological team has given her clearance to begin the orthopedic surgical process. She has been waiting for an OR to get her femur fixed today(Friday 12/7). The elbow surgery will occur sometime next week. 


Her family has flown in from around the country and are all staying in hotels to remain close by. The accident occurred 7 hours from her home in Hornell New York.
