Hit and Run Recovery Fund - Joseph Gebreyes

Donation protected
On Monday December 23rd 2019 at around 5:30 p.m.  thirteen-year-old Joseph Gebreyes was walking to Edmonds Community Center to meet friends when he was involved in a hit and run that left him unconscious on the side of the road. Joseph was found unresponsive by a local resident who immediately called 911. He was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital where he was treated for a broken femur, concussion, and bruising. Joseph had to spend the holidays in the hospital instead of at home with his family.

Pins were used in surgery and a full leg cast was placed . The weight and size of his cast restricts him from using crutches requiring around the clock help from his family.

Costs have already started to accumulate and his mother has had to take time off from work to provide the care required. The journey ahead will require extensive rehabilitation where costs are expected to be high.

Funds raised will go to Joseph's family to help alleviate the financial burden while they give him full-time care as he readies for rehab.
