At approximately 4:45 pm on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, I received a phone call from my mother, telling me that my younger brother had been in an auto incident. Details were scarce, but I was told that the EMTs who had shown up said he looked okay, just shaken, for the most part, but due to California Motorcycle Law, if you've been in an auto accident, you are required by law to visit a trauma center and have a checkup. From there, the news just kept getting worse. From "it looks fine" to "there might be bruising" to "there might be a broken bone" to "his upper arm is shattered, and he needs multiple surgeries and plates put in." As time continued to pass, more and more information was made available to me. My brother was the victim of a hit-and-run on a California Freeway. Because of the nature of the incident, we have no insurance from the offending vehicle, and medical and repair bills will, seemingly, need to be paid out-of-pocket.
My name is WS Hall, and I am starting this fundraiser for my younger brother, Isaac. My brother is the most stoic and willful person I've ever met. Because of this, it's been difficult for anyone in the family to know what he's passionate about until he bought his motorcycle. I'd never seen him look at anything the way he looked at that bike. He's described it as a "Meditative, full-body experience." It was an old police training bike that was in fine condition, and he was trained to ride it by the motorcycle cop who sold it to him. I could tell just by the way he treated his bike that he took his driving seriously. Now, because of what's happened, he's been hospitalized and on a waiting list for surgery to repair his arm, while his bike remains damaged and impounded with little hope of any insurance coverage.
Any funds donated to this account will go to medical bills and repair and replacement of damaged property, namely, the motorcycle itself, the helmet, and other protective gear that is now compromised after saving my brother's life.
As I said, my brother is stoic. Willful. Strong. I want him to stay that way, even after surgery. I want him to keep his passion for riding, and I don't want him to worry about any financial burden this incident might cause for our family.
I have set the goal at $1,000 only because...I don't know what more to ask for. I don't know what to expect from people...and I don't know what number I should put down. I know there are more fundraisers out there that might be more important to give to, but if anyone can spare even a small amount towards helping my Little Brother, it would make this Big Brother feel a whole lot better.
At the very least, thank you so much for reading.
