Historical Methodist Church Museum Restoration

My name is Karen Caldwell. I am a citizen, city council member, and project leader for the Corinne Historical Methodist Church Museum Restoration Project in Corinne Utah, a small farming town with less than 800 citizens, and we need your help.  

Dedicated over 150 years ago in 1870, this church has a unique history, having been built in the heyday of this frontier railroad town's freighting activities. it is the oldest existing Protestant church in the state of Utah. The building was an active church until its last service in 1957. It was added to the National Historic Register in 1971 and was deeded to the city of Corinne in 2020. Until it was considered unsafe in 2020 its museum was toured by many travelers. It was used for special events like Christmas and historical pageants, recitals, bible studies, weddings, funerals, and civic meetings.  Our dream is to see its dignity and grace restored, and the activities to begin again. 

This building is in dire need of repairs. From the exterior masonry walls, the foundation, roofing, windows, or electrical and heating, it is crying out for help. It deserves a full historical restoration. With the support of its citizens and local businesses, the city of Corinne is determined to save this very important part of Utah’s history. The advisory committee has recently hired a historical architect team to begin the restoration process. This exciting first step has been made possible by the community’s generous donations, but small communities like Corinne cannot shoulder the burden of preserving these historical sites alone; they need help, they deserve support, and the Corinne Methodist Church: Historical Museum deserves to live on for generations to come.
