In July 2024, Katie and Joey Bernhardt moved to the Port of Big Eddy in Frankfort, Kentucky, hoping to settle into their forever home with their one year old daughter. Just eight months later, they are now facing a devastating reality: their dream home has been destroyed by one of the worst floods in the region's history.
From April 2nd to April 6th, relentless rainfall led to record-breaking river levels, with the water cresting at over 48 feet. This catastrophic flood left over 10 feet of standing water inside their home, completely devastating their belongings and the place they had come to call home.
Katie and Joey had just begun to build their lives in this beautiful, peaceful area, and now they are faced with a monumental challenge. The damage is severe, and while they are unsure of what the future holds for their home, one thing is clear: it will take a village to help them clean up and rebuild.
In times like these, the Bernhardts are grateful for the outpouring of love and support they've already received from friends, family, and the community. However, the path to recovery will be long and difficult, and they need your help. Whether you can contribute financially to their cleanup efforts or donate your time and skills, every bit of support is greatly appreciated.
If you're able to help in any way, please consider donating to this GoFundMe page. Your generosity will go directly toward the costs of cleanup, repairs, and the rebuilding process. No amount is too small, and every contribution brings them one step closer to restoring their home and their hope.
Thank you for standing with Katie and Joey during this incredibly challenging time. Your kindness means the world to them as they work to rebuild their lives.
