Today the BBQ exploded at my parents home which resulted in the house catching fire and causing significant damage. Due to the age of the home my parents were not able to get insurance on the home without major updates which they were undertaking. Now all that hard work is at jeopardy of being lost. To make matters worse this home is the oldest home in the Newcastle area of Miramichi dating back to the Miramichi fire.

Currently it look like the following work is what we know needs to be done
upstairs bathroom needs two walls, wiring and a window
2 rooms upstairs in the area with visible fire damage need to be completely gutted
parts of the roof need to be replaced including the supports beneath
the exterior will need some of the pine boards replaced and then the cedar shingles
5 windows including the large bay window will need to be replaced. 

The good news:
the bedrooms and living room didn’t suffer any damage other then smoke smell
the kitchen is mostly intact with minor water damage
