Hirt family relocation and medical fund

Donation protected

Hello everyone,

On June 1st my husband Daniel Hirt was viciously attacked while he was working at Publix. The police and I believe that Allen Pierre-Louis is the attacker. He tried to chloroform and slit Dan's throat in the publix isles. Thankfully to Daniel's quick thinking and a Good Samaritan who started throwing boxes at the head of the attacker Dan was able to escape. Not only does he have multiple lacerations on his neck, Daniel also suffered internal bleeding and a collapsed lung from being shoved into metal shelving.

Currently Daniel is in the hospital. Earlier in the year Dan's hours were cut to almost 8 hours a week and as a result his health insurance was removed. Just recently new management took over at his store. They started to restore his hours and he was on the road to getting his benefits back. Now that Daniel is in the hospital Publix has stated they will not cover the bills for this attack that happened while he was working for them.

Daniel is expected to survive but he will not be able to work for quite a while. We will be applying for the appropriate assistance but as anyone knows those processes can last up to 5 to 12 weeks before we see any results. We will be in need of relocating Daniel and the kids by the time Dan is to be discharged.

Daniel and I have been working hard to try to save up the funds to leave our current living situation and get away from Miami. COVID 19 created quite a setback for us in 2020. For those of you who knows us well you know we have three young kids. All three kids are on the autism spectrum and need a lot of hands on care. We are asking for whatever donations you can give in order to secure a new home for us away from toxic and dangerous individuals.   The funds will also be for Daniel to have decent medical care after he leaves the hospital.

I am not one to ever ask for help in such a public manner but this act of violence that happened against my family showed me health and safety is way more important than pride.  I want to express how thankful I am for those who have already reached out and asked how they could help.  We would be BEYOND grateful for whatever anyone is able to donate. Any donation would put us so much closer to a safer future.

Thank you

Joanne Hirt ❤️
