Hello! My name's Hiro and I'm creating this GoFundMe for a gender affirming surgery.

In 2018, I decided I wanted to have top surgery, because to me, top surgery meant being in a body that felt in alignment with my spirit. I had hoped it would happen within the next few years, but with COVID in 2020, the dream got put on hold. Seven years later, I feel so grateful that I am able to have this surgery.

Over the past decade, I’ve learned to love myself as a trans person, largely through my spirituality. Trans elders and community have taught me so much about self-compassion, forgiveness, and how to be powerful. Being trans is probably one of the best things about me. And I’m so lucky and grateful to be part of the transgender community.

Why I am having the gender affirming surgery now, is because I have trans affirming healthcare through work, and am able to take off the time needed to recover. While insurance covers part of the surgery, I'm creating this GoFundMe to raise money for the costs not covered by insurance, about $5,500.

The surgery is $4,500, and anesthesia is an additional $1,000. I know money is tight right now for everyone. So any donation is truly appreciated!
