Mein größter Wunsch: meine Kinder aufwachsen sehen

POLNISCH
------------
Diagnoza: nieuleczalny guz mózgu – glejak IV stopnia

Pomóżcie mi walczyć o więcej czasu z moimi dziećmi

Mam na imię Jessica. Jestem mamą dwóch cudownych chłopców – mają pięć i dziewięć lat. Jestem żoną, siostrą i kosmetyczką prowadzącą własną działalność.

Nagle dostałam silnego napadu drgawkowego i straciłam kontrolę nad swoim ciałem. Moja rodzina znalazła mnie leżącą na podłodze w drgawkach. Natychmiast wezwano pomoc i trafiłam do szpitala.

Przeszłam radioterapię i chemioterapię. Przyjęłam wszystkie dostępne formy leczenia i nadal będę walczyć.

Moi synowie mają dopiero pięć i dziewięć lat.

Chcę zobaczyć, jak dorastają.

Chcę być przy nich, kiedy skończą szkołę, kiedy będą podejmować pierwsze ważne decyzje, kiedy znajdą swoją własną drogę.

Chcę być na ich urodzinach.

Chcę ich przytulać, kiedy będzie im źle.

Chcę śmiać się razem z nimi, kiedy będą szczęśliwi.

Chcę pomagać im w lekcjach, wspólnie spędzać święta i zwyczajne, codzienne poranki.

Chcę po prostu nadal być ich mamą.

Nie chcę tylko zyskać czasu.
Chcę żyć.
Chcę żyć razem z moją rodziną.

Nasza wielka nadzieja: spersonalizowana szczepionka przeciwnowotworowa w Tybindze

Badania prowadzone w Tybindze u pacjentów z glejakiem przyniosły obiecujące wyniki i u wielu badanych udało się wykazać swoistą odpowiedź immunologiczną skierowaną przeciwko nowotworowi.

Więcej czasu to kolejne urodziny moich dzieci.

Więcej czasu to kolejny poranek, kiedy mogę je przytulić.

Więcej czasu to wspólna kolacja, pomoc w lekcjach, śmiech, wakacje i kolejne Święta razem.

molekularno-genetyczną analizę mojego guza, wybór odpowiednich struktur docelowych, indywidualne opracowanie i przygotowanie szczepionek oraz konieczną opiekę medyczną, badania laboratoryjne i kontrole.

Dlatego dziś zwracamy się do Was o pomoc.

Jestem kosmetyczką i wspólnie z moją siostrą stworzyłyśmy mały salon kosmetyczny.

A potem przyszła moja choroba.

Obejmuje to przede wszystkim:

* szczegółową analizę molekularną i genetyczną mojego guza,
* wybór odpowiednich celów charakterystycznych dla komórek nowotworowych,
* indywidualne opracowanie i przygotowanie szczepionek,
* opiekę medyczną związaną z terapią,
* konieczne badania laboratoryjne i kontrole.

Dlatego prosimy Was z całego serca:

Glioblastoma: Help Me Keep Fighting for My Children

My name is Jessica. I am the mother of two wonderful boys, aged five and nine, a wife, a sister, and a self-employed beautician.

Until a year ago, our life consisted of all the things that seem so natural for a young family: work, school, kindergarten, time together, and plans for our future.

Then, a single moment changed our entire lives.

In October last year, I was about to leave for work just like on any other day. Only about ten minutes later, I would normally have gotten into my car.

But that never happened.

I suddenly suffered a severe seizure and collapsed. My family found me convulsing on the floor, and I was immediately taken to the hospital.

There, the next shock followed.

During the examinations, two tumors were found in my brain. I underwent surgery very quickly. One of the tumors was completely removed.

Then we received the diagnosis that changed our lives from one moment to the next:

Grade 4 glioblastoma – one of the most aggressive malignant brain tumors there is.

Suddenly, it was no longer about our everyday life, our work, or our plans for the future.

It was about my life.

I want to see my children grow up.

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy followed. I have undergone all of these treatments, and I will continue to fight. Since my blood counts have become worse after each cycle, the chemotherapy cannot be carried out as planned.

But unfortunately, the options offered by standard treatment for glioblastoma are limited.

And when you are the mother of two young children, you cannot and do not want to simply accept that.

My boys are only five and nine years old.

I want to see them grow up. I want to watch them get older, graduate from school, find their own path, and perhaps one day start families of their own.

I want to be there for their birthdays. I want to comfort them when they are sad, laugh with them when they are happy, and simply be allowed to be their mom every morning.

I do not just want to gain time.

I want to live, with my family.

Our Great Hope: A Personalized Tumor Vaccine from Tübingen

Because the options offered by standard treatment for glioblastoma are limited, we began searching for additional medically justified treatment possibilities.

That journey led us to Tübingen, where my tumor tissue was examined again in great detail.

There is an approach there that gives us great hope: a personalized immunotherapy tailored to the individual tumor.

What makes this treatment special is that not every patient receives the same vaccine. Instead, the tumor tissue is analyzed at the molecular and genetic level. During this process, doctors and researchers look for changes and characteristic features of the tumor cells – so-called neoantigens. Based on suitable target structures, peptide vaccines are then individually produced and tailored to the tumor.

The purpose of this therapy is, in a way, to show the immune system how it can recognize the tumor cells. The aim is, in particular, to activate T cells against these tumor-specific characteristics so that the body’s own immune system can recognize and attack the tumor cells more specifically.

For us, this therapy is therefore associated with great hope. Studies from Tübingen involving glioblastoma patients have shown promising results and were able to demonstrate a tumor-specific immune response in many of the patients who were examined.

However, it is not yet part of the established standard treatment for glioblastoma. For this very reason, the considerable costs of this individually produced treatment are currently not covered by our health insurance.

And this is exactly where we need help.

For me, this therapy is one of the additional chances that I do not want to leave unused.

If a treatment offers the possibility of giving me more time, I do not want to look back one day and know that we were unable to take this chance simply for financial reasons.

Because for me, more time does not simply mean a number on a calendar.

More time means being able to experience another birthday with my children.

More time means being able to hold them in my arms in the morning.

More time means helping them with their homework, laughing with them, celebrating Christmas together, and being able to accompany them through another part of their lives.

For us, this therapy means hope for exactly that kind of time.

But We Cannot Afford This Chance on Our Own

Because this personalized tumor therapy is not part of standard treatment, the high costs for the individual analysis, development and production, as well as the associated medical services, currently have to be paid by us ourselves.

This amount – a very high five-figure sum – is far beyond what we can afford as a family.

That is why we are reaching out to you today.

Not because it is easy for us to ask for help – but because this is about a chance for more time to live.

Why We Have Reached Our Financial Limits

I am a self-employed beautician and, together with my sister, I built up a small beauty salon.

One year before the COVID-19 pandemic, we moved into new premises. At that time, I invested a large part of my savings and also part of my private retirement savings into our business.

We wanted to build a future for ourselves.

Then COVID came.

Our salon had to remain closed for many months. Even afterwards, it was difficult to return to the level we had reached before the pandemic. Nevertheless, we did not give up and kept fighting.

And then came my diagnosis.

Since my illness, I have no longer been able to work. As a self-employed person, this means that I have lost my entire income.

My sister is doing everything in her power to keep our salon running. But she cannot do her own work and completely take over mine at the same time. There are only 24 hours in a day, and her strength is limited too.

Meanwhile, my husband is trying to keep our family together financially and practically, while at the same time being there for our two children and for me.

We are doing everything we can.

But we can no longer carry this burden alone.

What Your Donations Will Be Used For

The donations are intended primarily to help finance the personalized tumor therapy and the medical costs directly associated with it.

These include, in particular, the molecular and genetic analysis of my tumor, the selection of suitable tumor-specific target structures, the individual development and production of the vaccine, as well as the necessary medical supervision, laboratory tests, and check-ups.

It Is Difficult for Me to Ask for Help

I have always been used to working, taking responsibility, and providing for my family.

My greatest wish was always to continue running my salon, to be able to work again myself, and to show my children that even after difficult times, you can get back on your feet.

But today, I have an even greater wish:

I want to live.

I want to wake my children up in the morning.

I want to take them to school.

I want to celebrate their birthdays.

I want to watch my two little boys grow into young men.

I simply want to be allowed to remain their mom.

That is why we are asking you from the bottom of our hearts:

Please help us make this chance possible.

Every amount helps – no matter whether it is €5, €10, or more. Many small contributions can achieve something great together.

And even if you cannot or do not want to donate yourself, you can still help us enormously:

Please share this fundraiser.

Share it via WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook. Send it to friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances.

Perhaps our story will reach exactly the people who can help us.

Every donation, every share, every message, and every kind thought shows us:

We do not have to walk this path alone.

I will keep fighting.

For my husband.

For my family.

For myself.

And above all, for my two boys.

Because they need their mom.

And there is nothing I wish for more than to be able to stay with them for as long as possible.

Thank you for helping us turn hope into time.

Thank you for every donation and every time our story is shared.

From the bottom of our hearts,

Jessica & Family
