Hips for Ollie
Donation protected
Ollie is a 10 month old Great Pyrenees adopted as a puppy, the runt of the litter, from a local Great Pyrenees rescue. He is a sweet, silly, goofy boy who loves nothing more than to go for rides in the car, sit out in the sun chewing on a stick, or wrestling with his bestie, Rooney. His favorite toy is a Bark Box blue dragon the krinkles as he shakes it.....and he gives the best puppy kisses...a smoosh in your nose with his. Since we adopted him 8 months ago, he has overcome so much; when we first got him he had a runny nose - it turned out he had pneumonia. Shortly after getting over pneumonia, we nursed him through Parvo. When we were finally able to continue his puppy vaccines, he had severe allergic reactions, one requiring a trip and overnight stay at the emergency vet. We also started noticing his strange gait which we first attributed to his front right paw, which turns slightly outward, but then noticed he was favoring one leg and unable to put full weight on his rear legs. We took Ollie to a specialty vet where they did scans of his spine, hips and knees and were devastated to learn his scans showed that both hips are so bad, he needs total hip replacement in both hips, at a cost of between $12,000 - $15,000. My mom is just heartbroken as Ollie is her baby. Whenever she is home, he is constantly by her side and takes him with her wherever she goes. Everyone who meets him just loves him - he's just a big goofy gentle giant. He loves our cats and even our pet bunny. I firmly believe Ollie deserves a chance at a good life. Research has shown us that 90-95% of dogs who have total hip replacements live a full healthy, normal life, and given his young age, Ollie’s odds are even better. I know my mom and I would be forever grateful for any donation given and thank you for even considering.
