In Athens HipHop4Hope empowers youth from precarious living conditions since 2020. For this we use HipHop culture as a positive tool to increase their well being and promote personality development. (All Infos in German below)

Overview HipHop4Hope:

HipHop4Hope e.V. is a non-profit association based in Freiburg, Germany, founded by individual hip hop artists from Germany and France. Since 2013, we have launched various projects with the aim of inspiring youth. With our work we support youth with the help of different positive tools of Hip Hop culture. We strengthen the mental and physical well-being and support them in their personality development. Hip Hop is our therapeutic tool we use to equip the youth with essential skills they need to steer their own lives in a positive direction. Our projects take place in Manila/Philippines, Athens/Greece, Germany and France. We create spaces where youth from precarious backgrounds can express themselves, rise above and make friends.

About HipHop4Hope Athens:

Our project in Athens focuses especially on non-formal education of unaccompanied refugee youth. Our team consisting of local and international members offers regular classes in the elements of hip hop culture (street dance styles, rap, graffiti, MCing, knowledge) that take place in different locations around the city. For this purpose we cooperate with housing projects, youth centers, local hip hop crews and organizations in the humanitarian field. In our courses, our trainers/educators teach values and principles and follow an approach that focuses on strengthening the values: trust, respect, independence, cooperation and kindness. With the help of monthly community events we create a community between the local hip hop scene and the participants of the project.

Since HipHop4Hope Athens began, we have offered over 214 classes to youth from precarious backgrounds. Participants from 24 nationalities took part in our activities. We also hosted 22 community events and collaborated with 14 organizations and projects (Yoga and Sport for Refugees, Free Movement Skateboarding, etc.) to create empowering platforms. Our community events ranged from 30 to 500 participants and involved over 1300 people in total.

With your support, we can continue to develop the project and equip youth with the essential skills they need to direct their lives in a positive direction.

How we gonna use your support:

In order to ensure the quality of our youth work in the long term, it is necessary to compensate the empowering effort of the team. These include: Expense allowance for trainers/pedagogues, expense allowance for the core team/management. The second big need ist to cover costs for equipment/material of the regular classes, community events and workshops, rental for event and training locations, as well as training/further education for the HipHop4Hope Athens Team.

Unser Team bestehend aus lokalen und internationalen Mitgliedern bietet regelmäßige Kurse in den Elementen der HipHop Kultur (Street Dance Styles, Rap, Graffiti, MCing, Knowledge) an, die an verschiedenen Orten in der Stadt stattfinden. Hierfür arbeiten wir mit Wohnprojekten, Jugendzentren, lokalen HipHop-Crews und Organisationen auf dem humanitären Feld zusammen. In unseren Kursen vermitteln unsere Trainer/Pädagogen Werte und Prinzipien und folgen einem Ansatz der sich auf die Stärkung der Werte: Vertrauen, Respekt, Unabhängigkeit, Zusammenarbeit und Freundlichkeit - fokussiert. Mithilfe monatlicher Community-Events schaffen wir eine Gemeinschaft zwischen der lokalen HipHop-Szene und den Teilnehmern des Projekts auf.

Wie werden wir deine Unterstützung verwenden:

Um die Qualität unserer Jugendarbeit langfristig zu sichern, ist es notwendig, den Aufwand des Teams zu kompensieren. Dazu gehören: Aufwandsentschädigung für Trainer/Pädagogen, Aufwandsentschädigung für das Kernteam/Management. Der zweite Bedarf besteht darin, die Kosten für Ausrüstung/Material der regulären Classes, Community-Events und Workshops, die Miete für Veranstaltungs- und Schulungsorte sowie die Aus- und Weiterbildung für das HipHop4Hope Athens Team zu decken.
