On October 8, a day after we woke up to the terrible news that we were under attack here in Israel, on a scale that shocked our senses, our son-in-law Yigal Marcus, formerly from Teaneck, NJ, came up with idea of recruiting doctors from overseas to come to Israel as needed. Our daughter Caryn, shared this information with her friends and somehow it went viral. The result was that 72 hours later over 5,000 doctors from 40 countries had signed up and so Mission HINENU was born.

It became apparent very quickly that medical institutions throughout Israel were short staffed, as many employees were called up into the army or cannot go to work. The need arose for non-medical personnel to care for patients, perform secretarial functions, babysit for clinical staff and every other field imaginable.

Yigal’s sister Dr. Eliana Aaron, who runs a healthcare support network in Israel called EMACARE, is collaborating with the Ministry of Health, to recruit non-medical volunteers to support staff medical institutions around Israel.

And so these 2 massive operations have been combined and are growing by the minute. All this is being done from Caryn and Yigal’s home near Modi’in with help of about 30 dedicated volunteers.

We as parents wanted to help in whatever way we could and have been given the task of providing lunches and refreshments for their volunteers. We have been ordering food and delivering it personally on a daily basis, so that they can focus on their important task.

We are asking you, if you can, to please donate money to help pay for this food and anything else they may need. Typically, food and refreshments for 1 day costs around $150, but any amount would be appreciated.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and pray that this nightmare will soon be over, with our hostages returned safely to their loved ones.
