|| Support CAST & CREW of 50 TEENS for a MUSICAL in Nepal ||
Shree Mangal Dvip (SMD) & International School Students
are rehearsing hard to put on their show in Kathmandu!
< below: never too cold to sing out in the New Year's cold! >
SMD School, located in the Boudha district of Kathmandu, celebrates a wealth of ethnically Tibetan culture—music, song & dance from across the Himalayas. But creative expression is otherwise a rare chance with scarce funds to cover basic school fees and daily expenses for its 500+ students who come from impoverished mountain villages:

In another part of Kathmandu, a 16-year-old and her friends also moved by voice, dance & acting--and in the storytelling form of the Musical--decided to team up with SMD to put on a show:
“ONCE ON THIS ISLAND” | A Broadway Musical

Based upon the Novel My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy
Friday, 31 January | Saturday, 1 February 2020 | 7PM

HELP US PUT THIS SHOW ON STAGE :
• A small donation funds basic supplies— tools, transportation, paintbrushes, makeup, photocopying for publicity, and chai and snacks to stave off the chill of winter rehearsals.
• A bigger donation enables a more professional performance to provide wood for the set, rent microphones and lighting, and have some costume pieces made locally. (Most costumes will be reworked pieces of traditional Himalayan clothing!)
• The largest expense covers the creative work of "Once On This Island," aka intellectual property: the purchase of rights for the script and music through MTI*.
Any additional funds we raise will go to SMD to cover the $1000 for school fees, room, & board per student for the 42 students not yet covered in 2020.
To all those who recognize what this experience offers to students with limited opportunities for creative expression, we thank you.
