Hill Family Needs Help After Flood Damage

Oh, where to start? Our family so much prefers to be the helpers, but this time we need help. The house my mom, Julie, lives in was devastated by the crazy rains on Aug 10th. We are grateful she is ok, her pets are ok, and that she has great neighbors that were all checking in on each other in the middle of the night.
A whole foundation wall collapsed, the sill cracked, and all mechanicals and personal items in the basement were a total loss because the water filled the entire basement when the wall collapsed. My mom lost her Christmas collection from her great-grandparents; her nickname is the Christmas queen, so that dumpster load leaving was a solemn moment. She also lost many of her gardening pots, her other passion. Her yard wins awards for all the care she puts in to make things pretty for the neighborhood.
Unfortunately, once the “F” word came into play, the insurance company was legally free to wash its hands of this situation and didn’t even come to look. So, we are faced with very large repair bills out of pocket. Thus far, $25k for foundation repair, $15k for HVAC, and waiting on a plumber and electrician to look things over. There are still some unknowns about what the more cosmetic costs will be; there are flooring and drywall repairs needed for sure, and the landscape is quite the mess on the side where the collapse happened.
We were able to do the initial cleanup ourselves, after many Menards trips to get bracing, because our son has a mini loader that was able to enter the basement since the wall was gone and scoop up the debris and a couple of feet of dirt and block. So very grateful for that and our kids showing up to help as it saved a decent amount of money. It's time for contractors skilled in their trades to take over now, however, so things are done safely and correctly to code. Retirement budgeting didn’t take into account a 500-year flood, so we are humbly asking for a bit of help. Thank you for considering.
