Der Hurrikan Melissa wütet derzeit über Jamaika – und schon jetzt ist klar: es wird einer der schlimmsten Stürme des Jahrhunderts.

Stromausfälle, Überflutungen, zerstörte Häuser – die Lage ist dramatisch, und das volle Ausmaß der Schäden ist noch unklar. Viele Familien stehen vor dem Nichts.

Wir möchten nicht abwarten, bis die Katastrophe vorbei ist – wir wollen handeln.

Am 12. November fliegen wir nach Jamaica, um direkt vor Ort zu helfen, das Nötigste zu besorgen und Familien zu unterstützen, sobald es sicher möglich ist.

Mit eurer Hilfe möchten wir:

• Lebensmittel, Trinkwasser, Kleidung und Hygieneartikel bereitstellen

• lokale Hilfsorganisationen und Gemeinden beim Wiederaufbau unterstützen

• gezielt Familien und Schulen helfen, die besonders betroffen sind

Wir sind Nathalie & Patrick Schlegel, ein deutsch-jamaikanisches Paar. Patrick ist auf Jamaica aufgewachsen, und das Land liegt uns sehr am Herzen. Wir stehen in keiner familiären Beziehung zu den unmittelbar Betroffenen – wir möchten dort helfen, wo die Hilfe am dringendsten gebraucht wird.

We’re flying to Jamaica on November 12th to help on the ground.

Hurricane Melissa is currently hitting Jamaica — and it’s already being described as one of the worst storms of the century.

Power outages, flooding, destroyed homes — the situation is still unfolding, and the full extent of the damage remains unclear. Many families have lost everything.

We don’t want to wait until it’s over — we want to take action.

On November 12th, we’ll be flying to Jamaica to help directly on the ground, buy essential supplies, and support families as soon as it’s safe to reach them.

With your help, we aim to:

• Buy and distribute food, clean water, clothing, and hygiene items

• Support local organizations and communities in rebuilding

• Help families and schools most affected by the storm
