Gabis Ranch (https://www.gabis-ranch.com/) ist ein Paradies für Reiter, Pferde und gerettete Hunde in der Dominikanischen Republik. Doch jetzt dürfen wegen Corona keine Touristen mehr kommen - und damit brechen sämtliche Einnahmen weg. Da auch das Gras knapp wird, muss Futter gekauft werden. Für insgesamt 42 Pferde und einen Esel, von denen viele auch schon ihr Rentnerdasein genießen dürfen, und auch 25 Hunde. Denn Gabi setzt sich aktiv für den Tierschutz ein. Viele der Pferde und alle Hunde hat sie schlichtweg vor dem Tod gerettet. Und auch alle ihre älteren Pferde sollen eigentlich bis an ihr Ende ein gutes Gnadenbrot bekommen. Es fällt nicht leicht, um Spenden zu bitten, aber die Tiere sollen schlicht nicht hungern müssen. Jeder Euro hilft und kommt direkt bei den Tieren an. Wer dauerhaft helfen möchte, kann auch eine Patenschaft übernehmen für ein gerettes Tier, Infos zur Tierschutzarbeit auch auf der Facebook-Seite von Gabis Animal Rescue .
Ihre Grundkosten betragen etwa 1500 Euro im Monat - wenn kein Tier krank wird. Darunter fallen die Pacht für die Weiden, Futter, regelmäßige Medikamente, spezielle Vitamine für ein paar der alten Pferde, Wurmkuren sowie drei Mitarbeiter, deren Existenz ebenfalls von ihrer Arbeit für Gabi abhängt. Die Pferde sind auf mehrere Standorte verteilt, daher kann Gabi die Arbeit auch nicht allein leisten.

Gabis Ranch  is a paradise for riders, horses and rescue dogs in the Dominican Republic. But now, because of COVID-19, tourists are not allowed to travel - and all income is lost. The grass which feeds the horses is becoming scarce so feed has to be bought. Gabi has a total of 42 horses (mostly retired), 1 donkey, and 25 dogs all being cared for by Gabi. Gabi is an animal activist and well respected in her community. Locals call on her to protect and care for the animals no questions asked. Gabi has saved countless horses and dogs from certain death and taken on the financial responsibility. During this pandemic, it is not easy to ask for donations, but the animals can not starve. Every Euro or Dollar helps and goes straight to Gabi for buying food, payments for veterinary costs, etc. If you want to help monthly, you can sponsor a rescued animal and the information on her animal protection work can be found on the Facebook page of Gabis Animal Rescue .
Gabis basic costs are around 1500 euros a month - if no animal gets sick. This includes the lease for the pastures, feed, regular medication, special vitamins for a few of the old horses, deworming and three employees, whose existence also depends on their work for Gabi




Zu Gabis Ranch:
Gabi lebt seit knapp 30 Jahren auf der Karibik-Insel. Sie hat dort zunächst als Reiseleiterin gearbeitet und dann kamen die Pferde - auch ihr erstes war ein Rettungspferd aus schlechter Haltung. Sie hat nach und nach einen Reitbetrieb aufgebaut, auf ihren noch aktiven Pferden erleben Reiter Ausflüge in die unbekannte Bergwelt des Landes und dürfen den Traum vom Reiten am Strand erleben. Das Wohl der Tiere steht bei ihr an erster Stelle - auch ich war schon dort und durfte es live erleben. Die Hunde sind meist wie "Abfall" an Straßen entsorgt worden, Gabi päppelt sie auf und einige werden auch nach Deutschland vermittelt. Leider ist völlig unklar, wann der Tourismus, die einzige Einnahmequelle für viele in dem Karibik-Staat, wieder anlaufen kann. So lange es geht, möchte Gabi die Pferde und Hunde gut versorgen und nicht hungern lassen. Bei Fragen könnt Ihr euch an mich oder direkt an Gabi wenden.

About Gabis Ranch:
Gabi has been living on the Caribbean island for almost 30 years. She first worked there as a tour guide and then the horses came - her first one too was a poor rescue horse. She has gradually built up a riding business, on her still active horses riders experience trips to the unknown mountain world of the country or experience the dream of riding on the beach. The well-being of the animals is her top priority - I was also there and was able to experience it live. The dogs have mostly been disposed of on the streets like "garbage", Gabi is sprucing them up and trys to find new homes for them all over the world. Unfortunately, it is completely unclear when tourism, the only source of income for many people in the Caribbean state, can start again.
