Hi, my name is Alicia Gardiner, and I am a close friend of Holly Bain (daughter). I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Holly and her family during this incredibly difficult time.

In 2023, Hildegard Bain was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. After undergoing a hysterectomy, she was thankfully given the all clear. However, when symptoms began to return, further tests revealed that the cancer had come back — this time as peritoneal cancer in February 2025.

Hildegard faced her diagnosis with extraordinary strength, hope, and determination. Over the past year, she endured various treatments, surrounded and uplifted by the unwavering support of her family and friends. In mid-January 2026, her health sadly declined, and she was told she had “weeks to short months” remaining. Palliative care was arranged at the Bain family home, where Holly and Tony (husband) devoted themselves to caring for her.

With courage and love, Hildegard continued to embrace those around her until she passed away on 18th February 2026, at home, with Tony, Holly, and Benjy (son-in-law) by her side.

Hildegard was a truly loving and beautiful person. She welcomed everyone with warmth and generosity, always putting others before herself and treating those around her like family. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void.

During this time of deep grief, the family is also facing the financial burden of funeral expenses and the loss of income. My hope in creating this page is to help ease that strain and give back to Hildegard by supporting her family.

We are hoping to raise funds so that Tony, Holly, and Benjy can focus on each other and begin to heal without the added stress of financial pressure. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be deeply appreciated. Even if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page or holding the family in your thoughts brings them so much love and comfort.
