Hilary Hynes Needs a Helping Paw err Hand

Please help Hilary Hynes, a local hero, to countless abandoned and abused animals in and around Alachua County. Hilary has had a few rough years culminating in multiple hospital stays, medical issues, procedures, and extensive rehabilitation. Due to her physical inability to return to work, she was terminated from her job with Alachua County Animal Services leaving Hilary in a monetary crisis and facing a host of new challenges.

 

Some of you may remember Hilary from her TV20 segments and adopt-a-thons promoting animal adoptions in our area. She has touched thousands of lives through her efforts to help loving animals find forever homes with people and families all over Florida and in other states. She has done so much to share her love for animals, dedicating decades of her life to helping these dogs transition into the lives they deserve and allowing them to share their unconditional love with their new families. Hilary even partnered with Sheriff Sadie Darnell from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office to establish our own Paws on Parole program. Paws on Parole gave county inmates dog training skills and allowed the inmates to partner with select dogs for months of obedience training. Both the dogs and the inmates benefitted from this program. The dogs went to forever homes with basic obedience and socialization skills. The inmates had a community purpose and gained tangible skills, which some used to make careers in dog training after completing their sentences. Hilary has had an enormous impact on the quality of life for so many of us in the community.

 

I ask each of you, who can, to help us raise funds to assist Hilary in preparing for this next phase of her life. She will need assistance with wheelchair accessible housing, supplies and transportation when she transitions from the rehab facility that she is in now. Please, she has done so much for so many. It’s time for us to support Hilary and show her how much we appreciate all she’s done.
