Hi, I’m Ferry. Preparing for a multi-day hike, I couldn’t find a power bank I could rely on. Most drain in your bag, waste energy, and give up in the cold or heat. On the trail, your phone is your map, camera and emergency line.
So I’m building my own: HikingPower.
Holds its charge: less than 2% loss per month in your bag (goal)
Wastes less energy: more of the battery goes to your phone
Built for cold and heat: insulated, with a heater so it still charges when freezing
Waterproof: IP67, sealed ports, no flaps
Light: about 270 g, 10,000 mAh, around two full phone charges
Why €6,000?
For the first prototypes: an engineer’s safety check, parts for 10 prototypes, a test round with hikers, and an improved second version. Anything extra goes toward safety certification.
The images show an impression and all numbers are design goals. I’ll test every claim and share the results here, good or bad.
Every donation or share helps.
