Hiking The Pacific Crest Trail With A Purpose

Donation protected
Hello!
On April 14th, I will begin a 2650 mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail to raise money for those in need. If you want to support me in this endeavor, please contribute whatever you can or just share this link! I am looking to raise roughly $8 for every mile I hike. I recently decided to go all-in on this adventure and live my life now rather than waiting for tomorrow. To do this, I left my full-time job at a fantastic company, packed up my belongings, moved out of my apartment, and sold my car. If I have learned anything this past year, it’s that time is so precious and life is too short not to live it. I would love to use my hike as a way to help those in need, which is why I have a goal to raise $20,000 and share it between 4 different causes:

1. Boulders CUCRC- 5,000 dollars will be donated to help college students recovery from various addictions.
CU Boulder CRC

2. The Midnight Mission in LA- 5,000 dollars will be donated to provide a path to self-sufficiency for men, women, and children who have lost direction and or are homeless.

3. Broken Travelers Club- $5,000 will be raised to help further grow the company. The money will fund raw goods for t-shirts and help us to sell a product that will allow us to build a strong community for adventurers with purpose.

4. Pacific Crest Trail Cost- $5,000 will be raised to help me along my 5-month journey, have access to health insurance, food, and proper gear to be safe.

Please take some time below to read: my story, my why, and my mission along my upcoming 5-month journey. Thanks so much for your time and consideration to help make my dream and many others become a reality.

Well, what do you know?
I started a GoFundMe…

It's Adam Elbeck here, better known as Dadam and or Chacobear, depending on what year it is. I am a biracial black man from Denver, Colorado, and I am also an individual in long-term recovery. I started my career in entertainment and film five years ago, and as of 2020, I have decided to pivot and start an apparel company with some friends called Broken Travelers Club. But don’t worry, I still plan to make powerful and entertaining content in the film world just in synchronicity with the vision I have for my apparel company and overall just more aligned with what direction my heart is pulling me in.

On that note, I am really excited to bring some awareness to the fantastic adventure I’m undertaking. Not only that but, shed some light on organizations I love.

So let's start with the walk. On April 14th, 2021, I will begin hiking from the US - Mexico border in a small town called El Campo, perhaps better known as the southern terminus of The Pacific Crest Trail. From there, I will hike for five months, covering an average of sixteen point nine miles a day until I reach Harts pass or Monument, depending upon the Canadian border patrol when I get up north. This journey spans three states, hundreds of towns and represents a monumental amount of steps. It will be a culmination of a dream for me and represent the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

While hiking, I will have a lot of time to think about where I started. That's why during my hike and through this GoFundMe, I will be raising funds for two organizations that have had a significant impact on my journey thus far.

The first is the collegiate recovery center at the University of Colorado Boulder. A community that quite literally helped to save my life. My journey to finding myself truthfully began at the CUCRC; the people that came into my life during that time set me on a path of long-term recovery and inspired me to always reach for the stars. This community continues to save other struggling students at CU Boulder through peer support and community outreach. I know I would not be embarking on this journey without the CRC's impact on my life.

The second organization is The Midnight Mission in downtown Los Angeles. The Midnight has given many of my friends in LA a second chance at life. Altering the lives of hundreds of thousands of people for the better since they opened their doors. It is a program closely linked to many of my favorite people and, in my mind, represents a piece of my journey in LA. A chapter that found me working in entertainment, stepping into my own as an employee, and finding myself as a young adult.

The third organization is Broken Travelers Club . A community, first and foremost, is meant to bring people together and inspire them to find connection and meaning through adventuring and the clothing they wear. I’m founding this company with three friends from my time in Boulder, CO, and everyone who has passed through my life can find their fingerprints all over Broken Travelers Club. The money raised will be used to fund the next batch of Tee's and help us to begin designing our first complete collection.
