Hi, my name is Tanya Westby and I’m raising funds for my older brother who is currently battling stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. Just over two weeks ago my brother told me his sad news. He’s had to stop working and is undergoing aggressive treatment in Germany, where he has been teaching at an International school. About a week ago I woke up in the middle of the night with an idea of how I can help him- start a GoFundMe.

To support him, I’m doing what I can:

I’m back on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) one of the most challenging long-distance trail in the world. It is part of a 4 year goal to hike the whole trail from the Mexican-US border to Manning Park in Canada. Every year I head back on the trail to hike a couple of sections with the plan to complete the whole 4266km/2650m trail . Today while my brother starts his radiation treatment I'm starting to hike a 20-day section from the trail near South Lake Tahoe to Dunsmuir. My goal is to turn every kilometer I hike into hope and financial relief for my brother and his spouse. In the next 20 days I'll hike 16 full days and 4 part days and my goal is to hike 645km or 400 miles (approximately 16 marathons).
