On the 26th of April a group of more the 60 people will be walking around Derwent edge and Derwent/howden reservoir for this amazing woman from our brilliant community which has been tirelessly fundraising for months. Please! If you can! Donate as much as you can afford and hopefully sit back and delight in watching a young boy grow up with his mum. Even if just one pound it’s a pound closer!

As I’m sure most of you who have been following Sophie’s Journey know, she has been tirelessly battling a Grade 4 Glioblastoma for the past 18 months. Thanks to the community family and friends, rallying round her she has been able to make so many cherished memories with Remi. whilst going through gruelling treatment to give her as much time with him as possible. She is an absolute warrior, she gets up everyday day and fights so hard against this illness to make the best life for Remi.

Sadly, on the 3rd February 2025 Sophie received the devastating news that the treatment which was meant to prolong her life isn’t working. She’s had surgery to remove the tumour twice; on the 23rd June 2023 which removed 95% of the tumour and again on 2nd July 2024 to remove some new regrowth, alongside multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Her tumour has not only grown but has now spread across to the other side of her brain, which now rules out any further surgery. Due to this NHS cannot offer any further treatment to prolong her life.
