Hi, my brother Michael has been in the ICU since Sunday, May 16th fighting to wake up. I am hoping to raise some money to ease the financial burden on my parents who are doing everything thing they can to help Michael.

In the morning hours of May 16th, I received multiple calls that Michael had fallen off of an electric scooter and hit his head very hard on the concrete pavement. By the time EMS got there, he was throwing up blood. He had gotten a concussion but the doctors needed to do multiple CT scans on his brain to look for any internal damage. At this point, he was very disoriented and in a lot of pain so he had difficulty cooperating with the medical staff’s requests to stay still. They had to sedate him and intubate him to do the CT scans. The results of the first CT scan showed that there were multiple bleeds in his brain both subdural and subarachnoid. Thankfully, when they did another CT scan the following morning, the hemorrhages hadn't grown much worse and have mostly stayed the same size.

Michael has been unconscious and in critical condition since Sunday and will remain in the ICU, sedated and intubated, until the doctors can get a physical response (a nod or thumbs up) from him. He has suffered traumatic brain damage which can take months to recover from. It is likely that he will also suffer some type of memory loss.

My brother is a bright young man who was just days away from graduating from college. He is loved by many, kind, hilarious, and always a light in our world.
