Help High School Students graduate

Donation protected
I am a high school social worker employed by a non-profit and I work in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago.  I have several seniors this year due to family circumstances and financial difficulties that are unable to pay required senior fees and activities which include prom.   Four seniors are currently homeless and are staying with other relatives or friends. For my seniors participating in graduation is a defining moment in their lives.  They have fought harder than I ever had to in order to make it to this day.  It is important for them to celebrate this accomplishment with their friends and family.  They have all been working really hard academically to complete all their credits and improve their grades and I want them to have the opportunity to celebrate what they have achieved.

One particular senior struggled to make it to this year.  She is already 19 years old and often talks about giving up.  When she was a sophomore she missed an entire semester of school and never thought she would graduate from high school.  Since we have been working together she not only made up all those credits but has maintained her grades and has not lost additional credits.  She has worked incredibly hard, staying after school devouring Raisin in the Sun for an English credit or spending her lunch periods with her Algebra teacher.  Walking across the stage means a lot to her and I don't want her to miss this chance because she could not pay her fees.
