My name is Richard Begando and I live down at the end of Highland (601 Gutscher Dr.). As you know, our road is in terrible condition and needs significant repair. Due to the poor grading and lack of drainage, Highland Drive has eroded to the state that it is in now; and it will unfortunately only get worse.
I work in construction and one of my trusted excavation contractors come to evaluate our situation and proposed a plan to fix the road. His plan consists of "churning" the surface of the gravel to loosen the surface, then regrade and compact the surface to not only be smooth, but also drain properly. Through this method, we would no longer have water pooling in the road and in turn would not have the pothole situation that we are currently dealing with.
His proposal is to do this work in 1 day, so there would not be complications with access to your homes while the work is being completed. We would just need to make sure that any cars, trailers, etc. are off the road and out of the way for the machinery.
Here is where I am asking for everyone's help. The proposal to do the full repair is priced at $3,500. I am asking for us to come together to try to get our road back in a functional state. On our road, I believe that we have 23 total residences. If everyone were to chip in, that would be $153 per household. Though this is not an ideal expense, I am sure that the damage the road is doing to our vehicles is much higher in the aggregate. Once we all can put the cash together, I will schedule the work to be completed.
If you are a renter, I encourage you to pass this information on to your landlords as this will be a long-term solution to the poor state of the road.
I am hopeful that we can come together to get our road fixed so that we will no longer have to endure the pothole situation that currently is Highland Drive.
Thanks so much,
Richard
