High Blood Pressure: Montserrat's Silent Killer

The alarming rate of strokes on the small island of Montserrat is a major cause for concern.
With a population of just under 5000, when a fellow Montserratian suffers a stroke or a heart attack the entire island is affected, and the ripple effects are felt by family and friends living abroad. Because high blood pressure is a major risk factor for strokes and heart attacks, we are launching this fundraising campaign to raise funds to purchase and distribute digital blood pressure monitors along with tracking logs for up to 250 persons living on Montserrat who have been diagnosed with hypertension or pre-hypertension.
Recipients will receive education on the proper use of the monitor, how to interpret and document their blood pressure numbers, the importance of lifestyle changes and partnering with their healthcare provider to manage and control their blood pressure.
The overall goal of the campaign is to encourage persons who have hypertension or are pre-hypertensive to take their blood pressure daily from the comfort of their homes and document it so they can understand trends and triggers related to their blood pressure.
Together we can stem the tide of the devastating effects that high blood pressure is having on our family and friends on Montserrat.
The average cost of one blood pressure machine, tracking logs and educational literature is $50 US per recipient.
Your donation of any amount can save a life!
