Hieu "Charlie" Ly - beloved husband, father, brother, cousin and business owner - was shot to death on August 7, 2017 during an armed robbery at his liquor store. Despite his wife’s effort to save his life, she tragically witnessed the masked gunman kill her husband. Here is the story.

Hieu and Lilly have been working tirelessly at their liquor store for 10 years. In their everyday seemingly ordinary interactions with their customers, they have built countless friendships and established a strong presence in the community. Customers have commented “You and your wife have treated us with nothing but respect every time we walked in your store.” The memorial in front of the store is telling of the deep impressions Hieu and Lilly have made.

For being the incredibly humble, hardworking, kind, loving man that Hieu is, his life did not deserve to end this way. Our family is in absolute shock and grief – especially our mother, Lilly, who is still traumatized. We are trying as hard as we can to process and cope with this loss.
