Hiep Le Funeral Fundraiser

Last Friday morning, May 8th, 2020 - our father, Hiep Le, had a fatal accident while fishing on the Potomac River near Chain Bridge Rd., less than one week after his birthday. Multiple agencies, including: DC Fire, DC Police, Arlington County Fire Department and US Park Police, assisted with the 75-minute rescue mission. Sadly, the rescue turned into a recovery effort, that is at this time, still ongoing. Our family is shocked and heartbroken that this has happened. With COVID-19 and a Stay-at-Home Order in effect, the last time we saw Dad was in February. His body is still missing which has made it more difficult to find closure and comfort. Dad left behind his loving wife, 4 kids and 6 grandchildren who now miss him every day.
Our father was a loving and caring man. He always put others first. His plan was to send money to family and friends who need it during the COVID-19 pandemic, after he went fishing that morning. Unfortunately, his plan fell short.
Our father was a lieutenant in the South Vietnam Military Academy. After the fall of Saigon in the Spring of 1975, when the Communist Party took over South Vietnam, he was sent to a re-education camp for 4 years. Through his involvement in the South Vietnamese Military and the years he spent as a prisoner in the camp, the United States sponsored our family to come to the United States. With nothing in hand but a promise of a new beginning, he was able to provide a new life for our family. He instilled in us that hard work and determination will go a long way... we live by this belief everyday. His plan when he retired was to wait for our Mom to retire so that they could both move somewhere closer to the water, where they could go fishing every day.
All proceeds will go to his funeral expenses.
