Hibret (ልዕልት ተናኘወርቅ) School Project, Gondar, Ethiopia

My name is Axumawit Abrha Alemayehu, and I am raising funds to support children's education in my hometown of Gondar, Ethiopia. Through this project, we are seeking to raise funds to renovate and construct new classrooms for the Hibret Elementary School (ልዕልት ተናኘወርቅ የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ት/ቤት) in Gondar. This is a public school that was founded in 1942 (1934 in the Ethiopian calendar) and educates a total of 1,630 children in Kindergarten through Grade 8. All of the existing classrooms at the school are in poor condition and need to be renovated. The school currently has 11 classrooms, which has on average 90 students per class. Therefore, an additional block of new classrooms is also needed in order to reduce the class sizes. Pictures and videos of the current school blocks will be added, so that donors can see their present condition.

100% of all funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards the renovation and construction of the classrooms, which will be handed over to the school upon completion. Myself and those managing this project will take no funds or profit from donations received, all of which will go towards the costs for the renovation and construction of the school.

This is the fifth school renovation project we have undertaken, with 8 new classrooms built for the Key Amba Primary School, another 8 new classrooms built for Kebele 03 Elementary School, 4 classrooms constructed for Chechela Elementary School, and another 4 classrooms built for Leul Alemayehu Elementary School, all of which are located in Gondar.
