Hi! I’m Poppy the Golden Doodle Pup, and I Need Your Help!

Hello! I’m Poppy. I was recently placed in Foster Care and taken in about a month ago by my “new” Newcomb Family. I have had daily walks, brushing my coat and teeth, doggy park play, tons of greenies and yummy treats. I’m current on all my vaccinations, but I’m still young and super friendly with other pups. I started to lose my appetite 3 days ago and even when my mommy made me yummy chicken, rice, carrot and peas, (which I’ll eat anything) I couldn’t stomach it. My daddy added pure pumpkin purée that was also yummy, and I couldn’t eat it. I was good with water, but then I couldn’t keep that down. Even after my mommy and brothers rubbed me and cuddled on my doggy bed with me, I couldn’t get comfortable. I was rushed to the ER at 5am yesterday and placed in an oxygen chamber, as I was diagnosed with bronchial pneumonia. It all happened so suddenly. My breathing worsened and I had to have another procedure done that was pretty risky since I’ve fallen weak and have a very high white blood cell count. The team at VEG Pleasant Hill have been amazing giving me 24-hr care and allowing my family to watch and stay with me. I’m not improving with direct full flow oxygen being fed directly down my throat. I’m uncomfortable and look like a “unicorn” with these tubes! But I’m so cute, I’m a princess you know. Princess Poppy that is! My mommy and daddy are heartbroken and pulling for me. The doctor said my best chances will be to be placed on a mechanical lung to help me fight this infection. It will cost them $15,000 a day. I’m really fighting as they have me in the best supportive system and care for my recovery. I know it’s a lot to ask from a 1 year old golden doodle. I have so much life in me and just need a little more help. My mommy doesn’t like to ask but she is doing it because she loves her family. If you can please help me get through this, my family and I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much! Poppy
